Translate

The rumours are true! It's been reported for months that Vinny Dingle actor Bradley Johnson will be leaving Emmerdale, and given everything that has happened to his character over the last few weeks, it definitely felt like that was exactly what the soap was building up to.

Now, Johnson has finally confirmed for the first time that he's leaving the ITV soap.

Appearing on today's instalment of This Morning, Johnson said the words "exit storyline", which was quickly picked up by Queen of Soaps Sharon Marshall, who was sitting next to him on the sofa.

He tried to quickly play it off by asking if he really said that, but then confirmed he is indeed leaving.

"Seven and a half years, it's been an incredible journey. I've loved every second of it," he said.

When Marshall asked how it feels saying goodbye, he replied: "Honestly, everyone says it's like a big family but it really is, and you know, I've had the most incredible time with the most amazing people, all the cast and crew, directors, everyone I had the fortune to work with, incredible.

"I'm 30 next year, and I feel it's a perfect time in my life to start a new chapter and it's daunting and scary because this industry is hard, but I'm excited to get out there and see what's next."

Speaking about Vinny's court scenes next week, Johnson didn't give the outcome away, but teased that any number of things could happen.

"Will they whisk him away to Ireland where the rest of them are? Will he get a long sentence? Short sentence? Will he even go to jail?" he said.

He also heaped praise on his "incredible" on-screen mum Lisa Riley and stated that she'll be a "friend for life".

Now he's finished with Emmerdale, he said he's going to give music "a good go" after "putting it on the back-burner" a little bit.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
