KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — Police have detained 17 individuals to assist in investigations into an alleged brawl at a residential flat in Lembah Jaya, following a video clip circulating on social media.

Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid said the district control centre received a public alert at 2.07am on 31 October regarding a fight at the Lembah Jaya flats along Jalan 3, Lembah Jaya Utara.

A mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit was immediately dispatched to the scene. While officers found no active clash upon arrival, a group of people had gathered at the location.

“A total of 17 individuals were detained to assist in the investigation,” he said.

Investigators are also tracking the origin of a video depicting the alleged incident, which was posted on Threads and quickly gained traction.

The case is classified under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting while armed with a deadly weapon, an offence carrying a penalty of up to five years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.

Khairul Anuar advised the public to refrain from speculating on the case or engaging in behaviour that could disturb public order, urging anyone with information to contact the police.
