Madison Beer Is Coming to ‘Fortnite’: ‘This Is Definitely Up There With Being Nominated for a Grammy’

The power of manifestation is a real thing. After spending years publicly professing her hopes for a full-fledged collaboration with Fortnite, Madison Beer is the next celebrity to join the Fortnite Icon Series.

The pop star’s pair of outfits (skins) and cosmetics will debut in the Fortnite Item Shop on Thursday (Sept. 24) at 8 p.m. ET. Beer has been a diehard fan of Fortnite since about 2022, and can’t even estimate the countless hours she’s spent gaming.

“I would say this is definitely up there with being nominated for a Grammy and playing [Madison Square Garden],” Beer tells Billboard. “There’s things in my life that I am just obsessed with, and that I would die for, and Fortnite is one of them.”

The 27-year-old’s February appearance on Hot Ones seemed to thread the needle and convince Epic Games it was time to collaborate with Beer in a larger capacity — she has had emotes int the past — and join the likes of Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Eminem and Lady Gaga in the Icon Series.

Beer says she was “super hands on” with the collaboration, making sure everything came out exactly how she’d envision it, to the point they went back and forth on how her hair would look in gameplay.

The “Bittersweet” singer’s bedazzled pink angel look from her performance at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of the two outfits, equipped with thigh-high boots that will flame when reacting to music. “That was a really fun experience, so being a part of this is exciting,” Beer says.

The other is a take on her “Make You Mine” visual — or, as she put it, a “Fortnitified” edition of it — which features a heart-filled harness and a holster holding her microphone and battle ready at all times. “It almost reminds me of some OG fits,” she adds.

Beer is bringing four cosmetics to the Item Shop, with her cats Mookie and Maple being more cuddly than usual with their tails intertwined. While also shouting out her dog Presley, who isn’t forgotten, she made sure every detail of her feline babies was perfected, including having tipped ears, which means a cat was part of a trap-neuter-release program.

She’s always loved more of the OG pickaxe from the earlier Fortnite days, and brings that back to the Item Shop, with a little more flair than usual, boasting her leg warmer on the handle. The mic stand was inspired by her Locket Tour microphone, featuring bulbs and hearts, while the pink wings are taken from her Victoria’s Secret runway look.

That’s not it either, as Beer has emotes added to the video game for “Yes Baby” and “Bittersweet” while the pair of Locket tracks along with “Complexity” will be playable in the Fortnite Festival.

While she usually rocks a Catwoman-inspired latex skin, Beer is still getting used to playing as herself; you’ll find her roaming Pleasant Park and Tilted Towers in Reload, typically, when it comes to game modes, which she says is “surreal.”

Fans will be able to join in and watch Beer debut her skins and cosmetics during a livestream on Twitch on Friday (Sept. 25). Fortnite players are also set to compete in the Madison Beer Icon Cup, which will be available on Thursday in the Duos Reload, Duos Zero Build and Solo Reload game modes.

Fortnite isn’t MB’s first foray into gaming, as she says she was obsessed with her Nintendo DS as a kid, which led to her playing Super Mario Galaxy on Nintendo Wii and Xbox when she memorized cheat codes that she remembers to this day while playing Grand Theft Auto. Fortnite then took over when she got a PC setup in 2022.

“I just love Fortnite. I play it a lot. I have always, like, dreamed of [this]. I mean, when I got added to just having an emote, it was like the best day of my life thus far,” Beer tells Billboard. “And so this is obviously just like crazy, and I’m so excited. I appreciate my fans. I feel like they really made this happen too. They’ve been like championing this for me.”
