HBO adapted a beloved video game franchise titled The Last of Us into a post-apocalyptic series that has taken over streaming. The sci-fi series follows hardened smuggler Joel Miller (played by Pedro Pascal) as he escorts young teen Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey) across a dangerous world destroyed by a mutated fungal infection. The Last of Us has achieved monumental success worldwide and reached historic viewership numbers, but Apple TV's new series could reach even new heights.
Even though HBO's adaptation of The Last of Us is taking over streaming, a new series appears to be slowly creeping up to major success. Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista's sci-fi series on Apple TV, which aired its final episode four years ago, is finding even more success on the streaming giant's platform and is currently number nine on the top 10 most-watched series. The show See, which began in 2019, follows a society trying to survive without the sense of sight. A set of twins are born with the ability to see. However, Baba Voss (played by Momoa), a warrior and the leader of a tribe, adopts them and swears to protect them.
Momoa & Bautista's See Fights Its Way Back Into Apple TV's Top 10
The Apple TV sci-fi series continues to fight and endure with seemingly never-ending streaming popularity despite a rather mixed critical reception upon its debut seven years ago. See season 1 had a mixed score on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 44% rating from critics and 83% from audiences. Critics' reviews include: "Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard propel a savage, strangely compelling sci-fi fantasy/drama, set in a dystopian future," but on the other hand, stated, "Game of Thrones sure wasn't perfect, but watching See in its wake offers an important reminder: A big budget and Jason Momoa's grizzled looks do not an engrossing show make."
Over the seasons, the scores improved as the impressive world-building in See was undeniable. Unfortunately, there will not be a season 4 of the sci-fi series, and officially concluded with See season 3. The creators of the series stated that a third season arc was always planned to bring a satisfying conclusion to the Momoa and Bautista epic.
The Pair Got The Perfect Reunion 4 Years Later
Question 1 of 3
Luckily, Momoa and Bautista reunited four years later on-screen in the action comedy movie The Wrecking Crew, which was released in 2026. The movie follows estranged half-brothers Jonny (played by Momoa) and James (played by Bautista) reunite after their father's mysterious death. As they search for the truth, buried secrets reveal a conspiracy threatening to tear their family apart. It is the second time both actors have played brothers, as previously shown in See.
They are estranged brothers in both projects, but both Momoa and Bautista finally come together in The Wrecking Crew, with the actors stating that it's a "dream come true" to work alongside one another as they continuously boast about their close off-screen friendship. The Wrecking Crew is available to stream now on Prime Video, with See available to binge-watch on Apple TV.
