KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has clarified that his presence in Melaka today was strictly on official business and has no connection to the state’s political developments.

Fadillah, who is also Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said his visit was to officiate the 2026 CGNEI Gas Turbine Power Generation Committee Annual Conference at the EPH Training Centre, Edra Melaka Power Plant, in Kuala Sungai Baru.

In a statement yesterday, he said the conference is an energy generation programme that benefits the state’s economy and national energy security.

He noted that the conference, also attended by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, is an initiative by CGN Energy International (CGNEI) and Edra Power Holdings Sdn Bhd through the establishment of the CGNEI Gas Turbine Skills Training Centre (CGNEI GTSTC) in Melaka.

“Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh’s presence at the event was also in his capacity as Chief Minister upon invitation by the organisers,” Fadillah said.

The statement was issued to set the record straight following attempts by certain quarters to link his presence at the event to current political developments in the state. — Bernama
