Jakarta (ANTARA) - The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres lauded Indonesia's unwavering commitment to multilateralism and the UN, especially through its participation in the UN peacekeeping missions.

According to the UN Spokesperson Office, the sentiment was conveyed by Guterres during his meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the presidential retreat in Hambalang, Bogor District, West Java, on Sunday (Oct 18).

"The Secretary-General thanked Indonesia for its support for multilateralism and the United Nations, including through its contribution to peacekeeping operations," the UN Spokesperson Office stated in its statement.

Guterres also recognized Indonesia's leadership in advancing innovative development financing and climate action, it noted.

During the Sunday meeting, Guterres and Prabowo discussed the reform of the multilateral system and progress made in achieving the 2030 agenda on sustainable development.

They also discussed global and regional issues of mutual interest, including the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
