Mbappe injury update — Real Madrid and France star suffers injured knee

France captain and Real Madrid Kylian Mbappe suffered a major injury in latest international window, during the match between France and Turkiye at the Kocaeli Stadium in İzmit on Friday.

The Real Madrid forward received a threaded pass from Michael Olise to fire home what proved the decisive goal in the 54th minute. Mbappé then sat on the ground clasping his left leg around the knee area and within minutes, Zinedine Zidane had to take him off. Desire Doue was brought on as his replacement.

“After the tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappé by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with hyperextension of the posterior capsule of his left knee,” the La Liga club said in a statement.

The club is yet to inform the number of the days the forward would be out. However, reports suggest that Mbappe could be out for two weeks.

Mbappe joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and has scored 94 goals and 14 assists in 111 matches for the La Liga side. In the 2026-27 season, he has scored eight goals in as many matches, while assisting two more.
