Puripol storms into Asian Games 100m semis with 9.95

NAGOYA, Japan — Thailand’s Puripol Boonson clocked a season-best 9.95 seconds to win his heat and advance to the men’s 100-metre semifinals at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya on Thursday.

The 20-year-old sprinter got off to a strong start and led from the outset in Heat 1 at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletics Stadium, crossing the finish line first in 9.95 seconds.

The time improved on his previous season best of 9.99 seconds, set during a training and competition stint in the Czech Republic in early August.

Puripol’s personal best is 9.94 seconds, recorded at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand late last year.

He will now compete in the semifinals of the men’s 100 metres.
