Apple TV Announces Second Season Of ‘Carême’ About Napoleon Era Celebrity Chef-Turned-Spy

Apple TV has announced a second season of international Emmy Award nominated drama Carême, inspired by the tumultuous life of the world’s first celebrity chef Antonin Carême, who came to the fore in Napoleon Bonaparte era.

The French-language series is directed by Martin Bourboulon (The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan) and stars César-winning actor Benjamin Voisin (The Stranger, Lost Illusions).

Jérémie Rénier (My Way) returns in the role of Bonaparte’s chief diplomat Talleyrand, as does Alice Da Luz (Hanami) as accomplished chef and ally Agathe Guichardet. show, slated to begin filming next week in Paris.

Confirmation of the second season, which is slated to begin filming next week in Paris, follows hot on the heels of Carême being nominated for the drama prize in the international Emmys, the nominations for which were announced last week.

The first season of Carême launched on Apple TV in April, 2025 and quickly won rave reviews at home and internationally.

It is inspired by the true story of the world’s first celebrity chef, Antonin Carême (Voisin), who rose from humble beginnings in Paris to the height of culinary stardom in Napoleon’s Europe.

While he dreams only of becoming the most famous chef in the world, his talent and ambitions attract the attention of renowned and powerful politicians, who use him as a spy. Determined to escape poverty and fulfil his dream, Carême can choose revenge or he can have it all — women, wealth, fame — but at what cost? His love? His soul? His life?

Based on the book ‘Carême: Cooking for Kings: The Life of the First Celebrity Chef’ by award-winning historian, playwright and screenwriter Ian Kelly (The King’s Man), Carême is created by Kelly and Davide Serino (Mussolini: Son of the Century).

It is executive produced by Vanessa van Zuylen (Eiffel) with VVZ Production and Dominique Farrugia with Shine Fiction (Banijay France) for Apple TV.

The series films on location in emblematic sites in and around Paris, including the Tuileries Palace, the Château de Fontainebleau, Chateau de Chantilly and the Chateau de Compiègne.
