LTO revokes Niño Muhlach's driver's license after Antipolo crash

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked the driver's license of actor Niño Muhlach for two years following a vehicle crash that damaged several establishments in Antipolo City last month.

An investigation showed that Muhlach was severely exhausted before losing control of the vehicle he was driving, which resulted in it crashing into three establishments, the LTO said.

"Because of this, the actor was found liable for violating reckless driving and was declared an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle, which served as the basis for imposing a two-year revocation on his driver's license," the statement in Filipino read.

Meanwhile, the actor's vehicle remains on alarm status to ensure the enforcement of the imposed penalty and to prevent any transactions involving it while the said resolution is in effect, according to the LTO.

Muhlach's sport utility vehicle (SUV) reportedly crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into three establishments, including an eatery where a customer was injured.

The SUV also hit a parked motorcycle, which ended up lodged underneath the vehicle.

In an earlier statement, Muhlach admitted that the accident was entirely his fault. He also admitted that he fell asleep behind the wheel because of an “extremely demanding and exhausting schedule.” —LDF, GMA News
