New West Records has named Brad Turcotte as general manager. The label’s artist roster includes Billy Joe Shaver, Amos Lee, American Aquarium, 49 Winchester and All Them Witches.

Most recently, Turcotte has served in roles including artist manager at Vector Management, senior vp at Australia-based live entertainment promoter TEG Live and partner at marketing agency 615 Leverage + Strategy.

Turcotte has also previously held leadership roles at major labels including UMG Nashville (now MCA) and Big Machine Label Group. Along the way, he’s worked with artists including Taylor Swift, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood. The move to New West Records marks a return to Turcotte’s indie label roots, which began with his founding of Houston-based Compadre Records in 2001.

“This year has brought a few unexpected detours for me professionally, but I truly feel like the road has ended at the best home possible,” Turcotte said in a statement. “I can’t thank John Allen and George Fontaine Sr. enough for trusting me with this role. Many moons ago, when I opened Compadre Records in Houston, one of our main competitors was another young independent label just down the road in Austin called New West Records. We were both trying to build something meaningful, champion great artists and make our mark on the music business. To now have the opportunity to help lead New West feels like an incredible full-circle moment.”

Turcotte also serves on the board of directors for the nonprofit music education program Music Will, which aids music education in the U.S. public school system.
