W sobotni poranek Bangkok znalazł się pod wodą po ponad dobie intensywnych opadów. W niektórych miejscach suma deszczu sięgnęła 300 litrów na metr kwadratowy. Władze Tajlandii ogłosiły stan klęski żywiołowej.

Zalane ulice i reakcja mieszkańców Bangkoku

Gubernator Bangkoku Chadchart Sittipunt przekazał, że sytuacja zagraża ludziom oraz powoduje szkody w prywatnym i publicznym mieniu. Niektórzy kierowcy ustawiali pojazdy na mostach, aby uchronić je przed wodą. Główne kanały powodziowe wypełniły się deszczówką, co doprowadziło do zalania przede wszystkim centralnych i wschodnich części miasta. Lokalna agencja meteorologiczna zapowiada kolejne ulewy i burze w weekend.

Mieszkańcy opisują sytuację po ulewach

Zalane ulice utrudniły także dotarcie do pracy. – Obudziłem się, żeby iść do pracy, a ulica przed moim domem była zalana – powiedział AFP Samruay z dzielnicy Ari.

O sytuacji w Bangkoku mówił również polski rezydent. - Szczerze mówiąc, wygląda to bardzo dziwnie. Mieszkam tuż obok i czuję się dość niezręcznie, kiedy tutaj tak po prostu sobie stoję. Wydaje mi się, że najbliższy kanał wkrótce się przepełni, a wtedy sytuacja będzie znacznie gorsza niż teraz - relacjonuje Tomasz.
