Coronation Street confirms Shona diagnosis after Jodie's scheming

Translate

Coronation Street has confirmed a diagnosis for Shona Platt tonight as Jodie Ramsey continued her wicked scheme. But while Jodie's meddling triggered concern for her sister, it wasn't quite the outcome she was expecting.

In recent weeks, Jodie has been secretly plotting against Shona by making it seem like she is a danger to her baby Harper. From leaving the oven on to pouring boiling water in Harper's bath, Jodie has convinced Shona that she's struggling to cope.

Last night, the villain used a recording of her niece crying to make Shona believe the baby was trapped in the annex. And in tonight's episode, Jodie's gaslighting continued, prompting David to take action.

Noticing Shona having a snooze on the sofa, Jodie played her audio recording again and watched her sister dart up the stairs to see to the baby. When David returned from the garden holding a smiling Harper, the couple were both left confused.

Jodie tried to add fuel to the fire, suggesting the exhausted mum was hearing things. But David leapt to his wife's defence, reassuring her that their doctor's appointment will help.

Back at home, David relayed Dr Gaddas' diagnosis, explaining that Shona was suffering from "postpartum fatigue" and just needed rest. Jodie enquired if it was "postpartum psychosis, and suggested hearing things could run in the family as their dad Doug has bipolar disorder.

"Did you tell the doctor about your family history?" Jodie asked, before David asserted that she just needed to "relax".

Later, David continued to prove his support for his wife by covering her with a blanket and instructing the family to let her nap in peace. Jealous Jodie took the opportunity to stir up more trouble, claiming the situation was "so hard" on David.

"Are you strong? 'Cause you don't have to be, not all on your own, I mean," she said. "I mean, it's not easy being a carer."

However, David brushed off her suggestion that he was acting like a "single dad", telling her it's just a "blip" and Shona will be back to usual herself soon.

Will Jodie up the ante in the face of rejection? And how long will it be before someone realises what she's up to?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
