Miley Cyrus Fires Back at Criticism of Her Hollywood Bowl Concerts

Miley Cyrus Tearfully Details “Eternal” Bond With Godmother Dolly Parton During Hollywood Bowl Show
Miley Cyrus can’t stop and won’t stop giving her all to her fans.
The Grammy winner reacted to what she described as “clickbait” comments online criticizing the effort she put into the first of her two concerts at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 16.
“I have never heard that I don't put my heart into something,” Cyrus said at the Oct. 18 concert, as seen in video captured by The Hollywood Reporter. “You all have been with me long enough to know that any time I'm doing something meaningful, that's going to be a stepping stone in my life and my career to propel me forward to become the artist and the person I want to be, you know that it's been controversial.”
Following the Oct. 16 concert, social media users made note of the fact that the “Wrecking Ball” singer didn’t sing every word to her hits “Party in the USA” and “Flowers,” with some commenting she appeared detached.
And Cyrus seemed to address that particular feedback, emphasizing that performing live on stage—which she hadn’t done in four years before her Hollywood Bowl performances—is still a tough hill to climb.
"It is hard for me to stand up here and do the show,” she explained. “It does not come as natural as it once did to me before because, like all of us, we change, we evolve, we grow and we find what gets to come with us, what continues to fit.”
However, the 33-year-old encouraged her fans, “You all are more to me than an experiment—that is absolutely not what this is. This is not an experiment of you. This is an experience for me, and you all make the experience possible.”

Still, Cyrus admitted that it is always gonna be an uphill battle, one she was on the verge of having to lose, before walking out on stage to perform the first song of her second concert.
“Before I came out for ‘Orbit,’ I had already told myself I wasn't going to come on stage. I was gonna run away,” she told the crowd. “But never would I leave you all sitting in these seats unfulfilled from a show.”
Cyrus added, “I can take a lot, but one thing I will not stand is any question about where my heart is when I'm on the stage. I am fully present.”
