Jesse Jo Stark and Deadly Doll Sign With BMG
Jesse Jo Stark and her label Deadly Doll have signed with BMG, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Stark’s also taken on new management in Openstage co-founder Sam Jackson and Liza Owen.
“Jesse Jo Stark is a distinctive artist with an unmistakable creative vision and a fearless approach to her music. We’re incredibly excited to welcome her to BMG and partner with Deadly Doll,” BMG’s Eve, Recorded Music, West Coast Dan Gill said in a statement about Stark’s signing.
Gill adds, “This new album is a powerful reflection of who she is as an artist, and we look forward to helping bring it to audiences around the world.”
Last week, the singer announced her upcoming album Muse, which is set to be released on Nov. 6. The album’s first single, “Colorado,” dropped alongside the announcement. The vulnerable track also featured a music video, which was released at the same time.
The upcoming album was recorded over three “snow-covered” weeks in Aspen, Colorado, and it has been described as being sonically similar to the Stark’s earlier releases. “It was the time to speak without boundary,” she said in a release about making the album. “Even though I felt broken, I also felt an immense amount of freedom. Each day felt so precious. Like I was dancing with a woman I had been hiding from. I was clear.”
Deadly Doll was named after her 2017 single of the same name. It’s also the brand of the singer’s merchandise and clothing line, which has collaborated with several other high profile brands including luxury streetwear brand Chrome Hearts. The brand, which the singer serves as a VP and creative director, was co-created by her father, Richard Stark, and now run by both her father and her mother, Laurie Lynn Stark.
