EPRA Announces Fuel Prices In Latest September–October Review

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced that maximum retail prices for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will remain unchanged for the September 15 to October 14 pricing cycle.

In its latest monthly review issued in accordance with the Petroleum Act 2019, the regulatory body confirmed that pump prices across the country will hold steady. In Nairobi, Super Petrol will continue to retail at KSh 214.03 per litre, Diesel at KSh 217.86, and Kerosene at KSh 191.38. EPRA noted that the calculated maximum prices fully incorporate applicable taxes, including Value Added Tax pursuant to recent tax law revisions.

Regional price variations persist across the country to account for inland transportation costs from coastal depots. In Mombasa, motorists will pay KSh 210.87 per litre for Super Petrol, KSh 214.58 for Diesel, and KSh 188.09 for Kerosene. Retail prices in Nakuru stand at KSh 212.92 for Petrol and KSh 217.27 for Diesel, while Eldoret and Kisumu will maintain Petrol at KSh 213.69. Kilifi records among the lowest Petrol prices at KSh 211.68 per litre, whereas Mandera retains the highest price nationwide at KSh 234.68.

The price hold comes amidst mixed movements in landed import costs. While the landed cost of Super Petrol dropped to approximately KSh 113.39 per litre, easing import pressure, the landed costs for Diesel and Kerosene rose to KSh 124.17 and KSh 130.22 per litre, respectively. EPRA managed these fluctuations to prevent price hikes at the pump, maintaining stability for consumers while international benchmark prices for refined imports stabilized around KSh 144,672 per metric tonne for Petrol and KSh 143,197 for Diesel.
