Two people have died and two others sustained serious injuries in a road crash involving a commercial bus and a pickup van along the Adekunle corridor, inward Iyana Oworo, in Lagos, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has said.

The crash involved a Suzuki commercial bus with registration number KTU 333 YF and a pickup van, according to a statement LASTMA posted on X on Sunday.

LASTMA said its operatives responded to the scene, coordinated rescue efforts and secured the area. The two injured victims, a man and a woman, were taken to the General Hospital, Odan, for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU), popularly known as SHEMU.

The agency noted that its operatives handed over the vehicles and the Suzuki bus driver to officers of the Yaba Police Division, who maintained order until the rescue and recovery operations were completed.

Between January and March, LASTMA recorded 69 deaths and 246 injuries in road crashes across Lagos, according to a report by Radio Nigeria Lagos. The agency also attended to more than 600 accident scenes during the period.

LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
