Springboks: Next fixture, kick off time

Rugby fans have already been treated to four Test matches between the Springboks and All Blacks, but there is still plenty of action to look forward to over the remainder of the year.

There will only be a brief break before the Springboks are back in action, although it is expected that a largely second-string squad will be selected to take part in the one-off Test against the Wallabies in Perth on Sunday, 27 September.

That match in Perth will kick off at 11:30 (SA time) next Saturday.

The one-off match will precede the end-of-year tour and conclusion of the Nations Championship, but for now the Springboks are deservedly taking some time to bask in the glory of the series win over the All Blacks.

“The support is really special for us – that’s who we do it for; the people who can afford to come here and those who are at home,” Siya Kolisi commented after Saturday’s Test in Baltimore.

“Because there was a long stoppage (for referee audio problems), we were still in the zone, but in that moment, you get to appreciate the crowd singing and enjoying the environment and hopefully we have made it special for them.”

The teams shared a moment of prayer after the final whistle, and Kolisi said that once again epitomised what the series was all about.

“We came together to thank each other. We go hard against each other, but we get along off the field.

“The way the New Zealanders came to our country and embraced our country and the way they gave themselves to people in our country; we came together to thank them for that. It’s tough that one team has to win and one team has to lose but we know we are going to see each other again.”
