Penang landslide: Resident returns to feed her dog

GEORGE TOWN: "I came here just to feed my dog," said a resident of one of six houses evacuated after a landslide near her home in Taman Seri Rambai, Paya Terubong.
The resident, who declined to be identified, arrived with her mother on a motorcycle at 8.30am and stood outside the gate to feed her pet.
"Yesterday, my family and I stayed at a nearby hotel and did not bring many belongings.
"We are grateful that everyone in the family is safe, but we do not know what will happen next.
"Of course, no one will want to buy this house after what happened," she said before leaving the compound after being instructed to do so by the authorities.
Meanwhile, passing motorists were seen stopping occasionally to take photographs and look at the houses.
An 80-year-old resident, identified as Goh, said she had lived in the area for more than 40 years and knew the residents living nearby well.
"My house is only a few units away from theirs.
"They are all very kind," she said.
Yesterday's landslide killed one of the residents, Dr Wong Kar Lin, 73. His wife, Chang Mei Nuo, 68, and mother, Wong Poh Lim, 86, survived.
The victim was found buried in the kitchen.
Authorities ordered construction work to stop and evacuated residents from six neighbouring houses as a safety precaution following the incident.
