Translate

A woman in eastern China has been devotedly caring for her daughter-in-law for 17 years, ever since she fell into a vegetative state, moving social media users.

The younger woman, surnamed Xu, fell into a vegetative state in 2009 after being struck by a truck in her village in Qingyun county, Shandong province. The accident happened just one month after she got married, Shandian News reported.

Since then, her mother-in-law, Xuan Fengying, has cared for her around the clock.

“She married my son, so she’s my child. How could I abandon her?” the 68-year-old Xuan was quoted as saying.
