Max Allegri insists Napoli ‘are not out’ of anything yet after the 1-1 draw with Serie A leaders Lazio. ‘When we’re in the middle of the storm, we get the boat to shore somehow.’
The Partenopei went into this match in crisis mode after back-to-back defeats to Juventus in Serie A and FC Porto in the Champions League, the latter sparking tension and prompting President Aurelio De Laurentiis to put the whole squad into a training retreat.
Lazio had taken the lead at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this afternoon through Davide Frattesi, but Napoli scraped a point thanks to an own goal from Alfonso Pedraza, who was trying to prevent Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund from bundling over the line from six yards.
Allegri has faith in Napoli

“We must continue, because we are still trailing in the table, but there is plenty of time. At Milan we had an eight-point advantage and lost 11 in the space of a couple of months,” Allegri told DAZN Italia.
“Let us remember we are not out of Serie A, the Coppa Italia or the Champions League yet. There are difficult moments over the course of a campaign, I believe we need to deal with them in a spirit of calm, try to recover those who are injured, and bring simplicity and organisation to the situation.”
Noa Lang made a gesture towards the fans that they did not appreciate, as he asked them to make some more noise, and they responded with jeers.
There were also angry reactions to Lorenzo Lucca when he was introduced, as the striker had engaged in an on-field row with teammate Kevin De Bruyne during the FC Porto match.

“When the team wins, the fans think we’re great, when we lose they don’t. All I can tell the fans is that this team is giving its all, mentally and physically,” assured Allegri.
“We wasted some big chances today, but these things happen, I have faith in these lads and with more organisation, we can get back on track.”

There are suggestions that Allegri could potentially see his position placed in doubt during the break for international duty, so how is the coach doing?
“I am fine. Fortunately, I haven’t had that many of these periods in my career, but when we are in the middle of the storm, we manage to get the boat to shore somehow. These lads need support and are doing their best.”
