James Acaster was confronted by Jerry Hall in dramatic unseen Celebrity Traitors moment

Translate

James Acaster shared that the moment Jerry Hall went after him on The Celebrity Traitors was cut from the show. Maya Jama and Richard E Grant recruited James to be a Traitor, and he made it almost to the final before the bombshell roundtable, where he admitted his identity.

Of course, he was unanimously voted off by his fellow contestants, which proved doubly shocking given he had seemingly gone under the radar until that very episode.

However, he didn't avoid suspicion from model Jerry, who James said got in his face and confronted him about being a Traitor.

Speaking on Alan Carr’s Life’s a Beach podcast, he said: "Jerry Hall went right up to me face to face, this close, accused me of being a traitor."

He recalled that Jerry told their fellow castmates, "I think it's James", to which he responded, "I think it might be me as well, Jerry".

The Off Menu podcast host said Jerry thought he was "very sneaky", with James adding: "I was like, 'I am sneaky, and it could be me.' And then she was like, 'Mmm', and then went away."

James was shocked when the episode aired, and the exchange didn't make the final cut, as editors decided to reveal his true nature in the very last moments before he was banished.

It comes after he admitted he considered quitting Celebrity Traitors season two during a particularly intimidating task that saw the stars buried alive in coffins.

Talking to Far Out magazine, Acaster said: "I was lying there thinking, actually, I think I'm really scared of this.

"As soon as the soil was heaped on top, Bella [Ramsey] did say, 'Imagine if they can't get us out'."

Jerry was the first star to nope out of the task when it became too much for her, something James could sympathise with.

"I respect Jerry the most because Jerry just went, 'I'm not doing this.' Like, are you kidding me? And the rest of us were just like, 'We want to win Traitors in our coffins', idiots."

"As soon as I heard Jerry got out, I should have said to Bella, 'I'm getting out, forget it. If it's a free-for-all now, we should all get out. They can't stop us all. We could all do it'."

The Celebrity Traitors seasons one and two are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
