Coronation Street star Alison King signs up for show on rival channel

Coronation Street star Alison King has had her fair share of drama on the cobbles. But now the star, who plays Carla Connor on the soap, is set to face a new challenge by appearing on Celebrity Great Pottery Throwdown, on Channel 4.
Similar to The Great British Bake Off, the competition series sees a group of pottery novices take on two challenges to impress the judges.
So far, The Great Pottery Throwdown has gone on for nine seasons from 2015, with the celebrity addition being aired this year.

King's participation, as well as the show's apparent return with a second season, was reported by The Sun.
However, Channel 4 have not confirmed this, nor whether a season two is also in the works.
Digital Spy has reached out to Channel 4 for comment.
Hosted by Liza Tarbuck, this year's celebrity version saw six famous faces take to the pottery wheels, including Taskmaster's Fathia El-Ghorri, Would I Lie To You's Lucy Beaumont, comedian Richard Herring, former footballer Paul Merson, actor Layton Williams and Strictly's Denise Van Outen.

However, after a tense competition resulting in four chosen to proceed to the final, it was ultimately Williams who won over judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller to become the first-ever celebrity winner.
Meanwhile, over on Corrie, things haven't been going so well for Carla as she has been forced to put up Underworld for sale, leaving many of the residents without a job.
But Carla is yet to be aware of Idris Nazir's part to play in Underworld's downfall as actor Junade Khan has given a few hints as to why his character is so desperate to claim the business for himself.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
