Head coach of Ghana's U-17 women's football team, Nana Joe Adarkwa, is confident his side has what it takes to advance into the last four of the ongoing U-17 Women's World Cup.

The Black Maidens booked a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament following their 5-4 penalty shootout win over Argentina after the South Americans cancelled out Jessica Appiah Asamoah's 16th-minute strike in regular time.

The last eight stages mean Ghana has now reached at least the quarterfinals in the last five editions of the tournament, with Ghana set to face Japan or Kenya in the next round of the competition.

Speaking after the game, the boss expressed confidence in his side's potential ahead of the next fixture.

"We are waiting for our next opponents, and we will deal with them. Whatever it is, we have to qualify for the semifinals," he said.

"I am very happy, and I am proud of the girls. They have done well. We controlled the game from the start until the red card, but tactically the girls played into the instructions. They equalised, but thank God we won the match through penalties. We are happy."

The Black Maidens will be without the services of Hajara Adams, who was sent off in the round of 16 win over Argentina.
