EastEnders confirms big Ash Panesar twist - here's what she's hiding

New scenes of EastEnders have seen Ash Panesar receiving bad news from Canada as she and Vinny have a heart-to-heart.

This week, Ash has returned to Walford and is staying with Vinny and Penny, who've just recently welcomed a baby. Things remain tense between Ash and her mum Suki, who suggested they should get together for a family dinner in tonight's episode.

At the café, Vinny admitted to being "hurt" by his sister cutting them off from her wedding to Gigi. It seems as though she and Gigi may not be staying married for long given the latter had emptied the pair's joint bank account, as revealed in yesterday's scenes.

In a new development, Gigi texted Ash to demand she stopped calling her. At Penny and Vinny's, Ash received a registered letter from Canada. Despite Penny telling Ash they were all hoping to meet Gigi "soon", Ash had something else on her mind.

As soon as Penny was out of sight, Ash opened the letter to find divorce papers already signed by Gigi. She hesitated but resolved to sign as well, swiftly putting the documents away.

Next week, a suspicious Suki senses something is off with her daughter and decides to do some investigating of her own. She phones Gigi, later confiding in Eve about what she's done.

"Ash has supposedly been living the high life in Canada and loved-up with Gigi, so Suki can't fathom why she'd return to Walford – especially given the fractured nature of their mother-daughter relationship," our EastEnders insider said.

"Eve is reproachful when she hears about Suki's phone call with Gigi and warns her against pushing for answers behind her daughter's back. But exactly what Suki discovers from Ash's wife remains to be seen…"

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
