Johnny Depp’s Comeback Rolls On in ‘Day Drinker’ Trailer With Penélope Cruz

Johnny Depp‘s Hollywood comeback continues: The teaser trailer for Day Drinker dropped Thursday (below), which reunites the actor with Penélope Cruz.

The Lionsgate film from director Marc Webb is a revenge thriller about a private-yacht bartender (Madelyn Cline) who encounters a mysterious onboard guest (Depp), and they soon find themselves entangled with a criminal figure (Cruz) and connected in ways no one saw coming. “Don’t you sometimes want to misbehave?” Depp asks in the trailer, his character sporting an Irish accent.

The film represents the third time Depp and Cruz have worked together with the duo previously co-starring in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Blow.

The project also marks the second major title starring Depp to launch a trailer in recent months, with the first footage from Ti West’s A Christmas Carol remake, Ebenezer, dropping in July.

With Ebenezer coming Nov. 13 and Day Drinker being released in theaters March 26, 2027, the films represent a double dose of Depp following the actor’s Hollywood estrangement in the wake of 2016 domestic abuse allegations and a 2022 defamation trial stemming from his short-lived marriage to Amber Heard.

In August, Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed in a Deadline interview that Depp was also actively in talks to return to his most famous role in Pirates 6. “We’re talking with Johnny [Depp], we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done,” the producer said.
