Tv premiere of Dhurandhar 2: CBFC okays U/A 16+ after 45-50 cuts

‘Dhurandhar - The Revenge’ (2026) has already ruled the box office and pulled in big numbers on OTT, and now it's coming to the TV screen this Sunday, October 18, at 7:00 pm. There's a catch, though: the film was rated 'A' in theatres, so the makers had to return to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and rework it into a cleaner cut that younger viewers can watch at home.

CBFC clears U/A 16+ version after 45-50 cuts

The CBFC cleared the film on September 24 with a U/A 16+ certificate, but only after a round of significant edits. According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers were asked to make 45 to 50 cuts. Almost all modifications pertained to the extremely violent and gory scenes. The team, however, have smoothly edited out the disturbing scenes in such a way that the impact of the film stayed intact.

TV version is 10 minutes shorter than theatrical cut

With the edits in place, the CBFC gave the green light for ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge’ to air on television.

According to the board's website, the U/A 16+ cut runs for 219 minutes and 6 seconds, which works out to 3 hours, 39 minutes and 6 seconds. The theatrical release, by comparison, ran 3 hours, 49 minutes and 6 seconds (listed as 229.6 minutes). That makes the TV version roughly 10 minutes shorter than the original.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun in the lead roles. It is produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar along with Jyoti Deshpande. The story follows an Indian spy who goes undercover inside a feared Karachi gang in Pakistan and wreaks havoc from within. The first film, ‘Dhurandhar’ (2025), hit theatres on December 5, while ‘Dhurandhar-The Revenge’ followed on March 19 this year. Both went on to become record-breaking box office successes.
