‘Tried to strangle me’: Woman attacked by husband, 2 others inside UP court

During a maintenance case hearing on September 24, woamn alleged that her husband and two accomplices assaulted her on the Family Court

LUCKNOW: A woman who had come to attend a hearing in a maintenance case was allegedly assaulted and strangled on the premises of the family court in UP's Maharajganj, with her husband and two others accused of attacking her.

Her father and sister were also allegedly assaulted when they tried to intervene.The woman, identified as Priya Tripathi, has submitted a complaint to Kotwali police seeking registration of an FIR against her husband, Manish Kumar Mishra, and two others, Prince Mishra and Satish Mishra. She also provided police with a video clip purportedly showing the incident.According to the complaint, Priya, a resident of Samardhira Chauraha under Purandarpur police station, is married to Manish Kumar Mishra, a resident of Koiladad under Brijmanganj police station.Priya had earlier lodged a case against her husband and in-laws. She has also filed a maintenance case — Case No. 641/2025, Priya vs Manish Kumar Mishra — before the family court in Maharajganj.Attack after father's testimonyThe alleged assault took place on September 24, when the maintenance case was listed for hearing and Priya's father, Laxmikant, was scheduled to give his testimony.Priya alleged that at around 2pm, she left the courtroom with her father and sister, Priyanka, and reached the hall on the ground floor of the court building.

According to her complaint, Manish, Prince and Satish approached them from behind and allegedly began assaulting her. She claimed that she was knocked to the ground and that the accused attempted to strangle her.Father, sister allegedly attacked while interveningPriya further alleged that when her father and sister tried to rescue her, the accused assaulted them as well. She claimed they were pushed to the ground and attempts were made to strangle them.Hearing the commotion, police personnel deployed on the court premises reached the spot and intervened, bringing the confrontation to an end.Priya further alleged that while leaving the spot, the accused threatened to kill her if she continued pursuing the court case.Woman submits video clip to policePriya subsequently approached Kotwali police with a written complaint seeking registration of an FIR and legal action against the three accused.She also submitted a video clip purportedly related to the incident along with her complaint. Police action on the complaint was awaited.
