Pokémon Legends: Z-A is making an official return this December with a brand-new release planned to celebrate the game. Legends: Z-A is the latest core game and the one that wraps up Generation 9. While we’re all waiting for the release of Pokémon Winds and Waves in 2027, there’s still a lot going on with Gen 9, including in-game events for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as well as new releases for Legends: Z-A – the title that brought back Mega Evolutions, now in real-time battles.
According to a report by Siliconera, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will return in the form of a new release scheduled to arrive in December 2026. As seen in the report, Bandai Namco will bring new additions to its Pokémon Scale World series with figures from Pokémon Legends: Z-A, including both creatures and human characters that you meet during the campaign. This will be a gradual release, starting in December, though the rollout of new Pokémon figures will extend into 2027. The new products will first launch in Japan, though they will likely be released globally later next year.
As seen in the report, the very first release will be a figure for Mega Dragonite from Pokémon Legends: Z-A, capturing the Dragon- and Flying-type Pokémon in its brand-new form with huge wings. The next release is composed of several figures, featuring the female protagonist Harmony, the detective Emma, Absol, Espurr, Mawile, Mega Sableye, Pignite, Zygarde 10% Forme, and the Legends: Z-A starters, Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile.
Siliconera’s report states that you can purchase sets individually, such as the three starters. Mega Sableye and Absol can be obtained together, Mawile can be paired with Pignite, and Espurr and Zygarde come in a package. A bundle containing Urbain, male Meowstic, and Emboar will be released in January. After that, in February, a set that features Lida and Mega Starmie from Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be released.
According to Siliconera, while the Japanese launch is planned between December 2026 and February 2027, these products may be released in other markets in the future, even if they haven’t been formally announced yet. This may be a great chance to show your love for some of the most iconic characters and Mega Evolutions from Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as well as the beloved first partner trio.
In our 9/10 review for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, we praised the game's fresh take on battles and Mega Evolution, even if some aspects of the game were a little rougher around the edges.
Given that Game Freak is at work on Winds and Waves, while also allegedly developing other unannounced projects that have long been rumored, it’s unlikely we’ll see anything new for the latest Gen 9 games, apart from events and merch releases. Even with its problems, Pokémon Legends: Z-A was a remarkable release and a change of pace for the series, and its cast of characters, which will soon be purchasable as figures, plays a huge part in that.
