Lamine Yamal adamant Inter wouldn’t win epic 4-3 Barcelona semi-final again

Lamine Yamal insists Inter’s 4-3 Champions League semi-final victory over Barcelona was a fluke. ‘If we played that game again, I don’t think we’d concede the equaliser, in no way.’
The epic battle at San Siro came after an already thrilling first leg result ended in a 3-3 stalemate, with Barcelona coming back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 at the 87th minute.
However, Francesco Acerbi scored at the 93rd to force extra time, where Davide Frattesi went on to secure the Nerazzurri victory.
“At the end of the day, if we played that game again with Inter at this moment, I don’t think we’d concede the equaliser, in no way,” insisted Yamal to L’Equipe.
“We are a young team, there are decisions that get made in a split second that, at age 20, you deal with in a different way to when you’re 30 years old.
“This is true for me and for my teammates. It’s down to the details, a little bit of luck, and a lot of experience. We’re working day by day to improve all those elements.”
Inter went on to get crushed 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Final of 2025, but will always have that night at San Siro to relish.
Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty had put them 2-0 up at half-time on the night, leading 5-3 on aggregate.
Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo and Raphinha goals turned it around for Barcelona’s advantage, but Acerbi struck on the Denzel Dumfries assist to take it to extra time at 3-3.
