Some 17,800 personnel deployed to secure Persija-Persib match at GBK

Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 17,800 joint personnel will secure the Persija Jakarta-Persib Bandung football match at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium on Saturday (September 12), police said.
Greater Jakarta Police Deputy Chief Inspector General Dekananto Eko Purwono said the large-scale operation involves the Jaya Military Command and Jakarta provincial government to ensure the match runs safely and orderly.
“For the Persija-Persib match, Greater Jakarta Police, together with the Jaya Military Command and Jakarta provincial government, are deploying 17,800 personnel,” he said after a Jaga Jakarta preparation routine on Friday.
As a preventive measure, Greater Jakarta Police coordinated with the West Java and Banten police to block large-scale supporter movements at border areas leading into Jakarta.
“The blockades will be concentrated at three main points: Tangerang City, which borders Banten; Karawang, which borders Bekasi; and Bogor, which borders Depok,” he said.
Purwono also said visiting-team supporters, Persib Bandung fans, are prohibited from attending the match at the stadium under FIFA regulations and a crowd permit issued by the National Police headquarters.
“Under FIFA regulations, Persib supporters are prohibited from attending the match at GBK. Likewise, when the match is held in Bandung, we will prohibit Persija supporters from attending,” he said.
He also praised Jakmania officials and members for committing to maintain public order before, during and after the match.
The second week of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League season is scheduled to begin Friday (September 11), featuring the high-profile clash between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung.
Persija Jakarta will host Persib Bandung in the second week of the BRI Super League at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Saturday (September 12) at 3:30 p.m. local time, according to I.League.
