"Fast-paced and fun" mystery drama centred on a retired detective jumps into Netflix UK chart

A "fast-paced and fun" mystery drama has been climbing the Netflix charts. Unforgettable stars Poppy Montgomery as retired police detective Carrie Wells, who has a rare medical condition called hyperthymesia which gives her a photographic memory, though she struggles to remember her sister's murder.

She reluctantly joins the New York Police Department to help her former boyfriend and partner Lieutenant Al Burns (Dylan Walsh) solve a case. However, this allows her to figure out the circumstances that led to her sister's killing.

Joining Montgomery and Walsh in the cast is The Mentalist's Michael Gaston, Breaking Bad's Kevin Rankin, Bosch's Daya Vaidya and Kate & Allie's Jane Curtin.

Unforgettable first premiered in September 2011. Despite being cancelled twice by CBS, A&E took it on for a fourth season before cancelling it in February 2016.

However, the show has since found a new lease of life as it has reached the number five spot in the UK top 10 TV chart.

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, it doesn't have a critics' score, only an audience rating of 50%. A single review from New York Daily News said: "Unforgettable is exactly what a summer show should be: fast-paced and fun."

Meanwhile, over on IMDb, viewers were quick to praise the show, as one person said: "I really enjoyed this series for three seasons. Creative plots. Strong action. Unique settings. And stellar performances. "

Many lamented the show's abrupt ending, with another writing: "How is it a fantastic show like Unforgettable, that improves every week with wonderful character development, and a superb lead actress (Poppy Montgomery as Carrie Wells) fails to stimulate the US viewer?"

A third said that the show should be "rebooted", adding: "I can't understand why this series would be canceled."

Unforgettable isn't the only show doing well on the Netflix streaming charts. The Trap is a thriller that stars Friederike Becht as Lisa Konrad, a reclusive author who is haunted by the murder of her younger sister.

However, when she sees the man that she remembers seeing fleeing the scene of the crime on TV, she devises a dangerous plan to catch him.
