It was back in 2013 that Guillermo del Toro flexed his incredible directing skills once more with the launch of Pacific Rim, a military sci-fi and monster film which follows humanity's war against monstrous sea creatures known as the Kaiju. In response, humans must pilot massive robots known as Jaegers to be able to stop their assault, but to do so, its twin pilots need to achieve a mental link and become drift compatible.
Despite receiving positive reviews from critics and the audience alike, its sequel, Pacific Rim Uprising, was not received as well, leaving the sci-fi franchise to be left in the dust over the past decade. Well, the movie franchise may have been left in the dust, but the franchise as a whole is far from over.
Available via Roblox, Pacific Rim: Breach is a game mode which, as you can expect, is inspired by the sci-fi world of Pacific Rim. Created by STUDIO600, the game is currently in its pre-alpha state, but that has not stopped fans from falling in love with the in-game title, which can see players pilot their very own Jaegers.
With over 4.8 million visits to this Roblox game, it is safe to say that it has captured the community's attention and over on r/PacificRim, one fan expressed their love for the hit game mode. "Breach is such a good Pacific Rim game. Can't wait for more Jaegers and Kaiju in it," they shared, alongside a video of the game mode in action. "Really hoping for more Mark 1 Jaegers added and Cat 2 Kaiju. Really want to face Tacit off against Ragnarök. Such a simple, fun concept and all it needs is a roster over time along with new levels."
It seems as though others agree, and with Breach being in its pre-alpha phase, it is safe to say that plenty of more changes and content will be added over time, leading fans to already be feeling the hype.
"Hi, tester here," the top comment reads. "It's currently going through a bit of an overhaul. Stuff like combat, animations and game modes are (hopefully) going to see big improvements, but the first Jaeger and Kaiju after that are Coyote Tango and Onibaba."
With other fans sharing their favorite in-game Jaegers, it is clear to see that this simple Roblox game already hosts an impressive fan base, and one that will only grow as the game mode develops.
