EastEnders spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (28 October), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders has exposed another of Max Branning’s big secrets, in a huge episode where the Slaters come together to say goodbye to Zoe. This week, Kat Moon has struggled in the lead up to Zoe’s funeral, as she continues searching for the man who left her daughter to die.

On the night before the funeral, Kat got drunk and headed to The Albert – where she and Cindy got into an altercation with another punter and were arrested when things got out of hand!

In today’s episode, Kat and Cindy woke up in a prison cell the morning after the incident, and Kat was distraught that she was behind bars on such an important day.

Kat asked Cindy for advice about how to face Zoe’s funeral when the person who let her die is still out there. As Cindy attempted to dissuade Kat from taking revenge, she came close to revealing that Max is the man she’s looking for.

The Slaters grew desperate as the hearse arrived in the Square, but thankfully Kat was released from custody in time for her to make the funeral, and she decided to wear her signature leopard print for the occasion.

During the emotional funeral, Jasmine and Josh gave an emotional eulogy for their mum, who they never truly got to know, then Kat stood up to pay a heartbreaking tribute to her daughter.

Meanwhile, Linda opened up to Max about Lee’s alcohol problems, and he agreed to distract her son with some work at the car lot so she can attend Zoe’s wake.

Max took Lee out for lunch at McKlunky’s to make sure he was okay, but his words gave Lee food for thought and he walked out when Max’s head was turned and got drunk at Harry’s Barn.

Cindy continued to goad Max at Zoe’s wake in The Vic, then Lee arrived in a state and made a scene as he jumped to Max’s defence.

When Lee blurted out that Max was trying to help him because he loves his mum, the penny suddenly dropped for Cindy and she realised that Linda is the mystery woman Max has been seeing.

How will Cindy respond to the reveal of Max and Linda’s relationship?
