Stellenbosch confirmed the deal was completed with the attacking midfielder’s former team Plateau United in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

“Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Nigerian midfielder Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem on a free transfer,” the club announced.

“Having concluded all formalities last month, Stellenbosch FC has bolstered its ranks with the acquisition of Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem, who most recently plied his trade in the Nigerian PFL with Plateau United.”

LATEEF KAZEEM TO STELLENBOSCH FC

Born in Saki, Nigeria, Kazeem is a left-footed number 10 who can also play out wide. The 20-year-old will wear the No. 29 jersey at Stellenbosch FC. He could make his debut against Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership.

Kazeem arrives soon after Stellies announced the signing of former Amakhosi midfielder Darrel Matsheke.

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch have had an inconsistent start to the 2026/27 season. Sitting in seventh place with nine points, Gavin Hunt’s side have collected two wins, three draws and two defeats in seven games.

Stellenbosch began their campaign with a narrow 1-0 home defeat to AmaZulu FC before playing out an entertaining 3-3 draw away against Polokwane City. They secured their first league victory with a convincing 3-1 win over Marumo Gallants at Athlone Stadium.

However, they suffered a 1-0 away defeat to Golden Arrows before recording consecutive draws against Durban City and Sekhukhune United.

The Maroons bounced back before the recent break with a crucial 1-0 away victory over Kruger United. Keanan Johannesen scored the decisive goal in the first half to secure all three points.

Tuesday’s battle against Kaizer Chiefs kicks off at 19:30 from the FNB Stadium.
