Amazon (AMZN) announced that it plans to hire more than 300K people for seasonal, part-time, and full-time jobs across its U.S. operations network this holiday season. New openings will be posted every week from October through December. Amazon (AMZN) noted that some holiday hires stay on for longer careers.

Seasonal workers will earn an average of $20 per hour. Full-time operations workers start at $20 or more, and average hourly pay across the operations workforce is nearly $24. Counting benefits, average total pay for full-time employees is more than $32 per hour. The most significant change this year is with healthcare. Starting January 1, 2027, seasonal employees who work at least 30 hours a week can get coverage from their first day, with plans starting at $5 per week and $5 copays. Seasonal workers hired before that date will become eligible on January 1. Other benefits include a free Prime membership, up to $5,250 a year in prepaid tuition, a 401(k) match, paid parental leave, and grocery discounts.

The 300K seasonal hiring figure is about 20% higher than in recent years. Amazon (AMZN) planned to hire 250K holiday workers in 2025, the same as in 2023 and 2024, which made it three years in a row at that level.
