Yellowstone star joins Sheridan Smith in first look at new ITV mystery thriller

It has been confirmed that Oscar-nominated actress and Yellowstone star Jacki Weaver is joining Two Birds, the new Australian-set drama series starring Sheridan Smith.
Weaver is replacing Judy Davis in the production due to scheduling conflicts, and news of her involvement was announced as ITV released a set of first-look images, giving us our first glimpses of the mystery-crime thriller.
The images show us Smith as her character Constable Izzie Cornwell, along with Weaver as notorious local crime family matriarch Mrs Baxter and Stephen Peacocke (The Newsreader) as Matt.
You can see the images, which also show off the stunning locations in Perth and Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, here.
The synopsis for the series says: "Centring Constable Izzie Cornwell (Sheridan Smith), who arrives in the remote Australian mining town of Dugdale from the UK hoping for a fresh start, only to have a disastrous misstep pull her into an increasingly tight web of deceit, guilt, and rising danger as she navigates a murder investigation that brings her toe to toe with the fierce matriarch of notorious local crime family Mrs Baxter (Jacki Weaver) who is determined to protect her family and uncover the truth."
It has also been announced that Colin Friels (Water Rats) is joining the ensemble cast, which also already includes Fiona Button (Industry), Eva Morgan (This City is Ours), Harry Greenwood (Klara and The Sun), Nic Cassim (Mr Inbetween), Victoria Fowler (Bump), Lila McGuire (Goolagong), Kit Jeakings-Bull (Invisible Boys), Matthew Pearce (Home and Away), Sarah Roberts (Scrublands) and Matt Day (Strike).

The six-part series has been written by Helen FitzGerald (The Cry) and Megan Palinkas (Heartbreak High), and is directed by James Griffiths (The Ballad of Wallis Island) and Corrie Chen (Good Cop/Bad Cop).
These new images arrive just days after another ITV drama starring Smith, I Fought the Law, won in the New Drama category at The National Television Awards.
Two Birds will air on ITV1 and ITVX.
