The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said on Monday that Senegal’s appeal against being stripped of the Africa Cup of Nations title is likely to be decided at the end of November.
In a statement, CAS confirmed that the case was heard in private at its Lausanne headquarters on October 8.
“The panel has begun and continues its deliberation,” the body said, which handles international sporting disputes.
“The CAS arbitrators have decided to issue a complete ruling which includes legal grounds, known as a CAS Award. This process will require several weeks, with the CAS Award expected at the end of November 2026.”

Senegal had beaten Morocco 1-0 in the final in Rabat on January 18, with Pape Gueye scoring in extra time. However, the closing stages of normal time were overshadowed by disorder after Morocco was awarded a penalty with the score still 0-0.
Several Senegal players left the field in protest, while some of their supporters also tried to enter the pitch. Play was suspended for nearly 20 minutes before the Senegal squad returned to complete the match.
In March, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) reversed the result, instead declaring Morocco 3-0 winner and awarding it the title.
