EXCLUSIVE: On the heels of The Night Agent wrapping production on its fourth and final season, its lead Gabriel Basso has booked his next TV show, signing on as a series regular on Apple TV‘s thriller drama Guilty Creatures, starring and executive produced by Julia Garner.

In addition to Garner, he joins previously announced series regulars Lewis Pullman and Maddie Hasson in the series, from director Craig Gillespie, showrunner Stuart Zicherman and Tomorrow Studios. Previously announced Mary-Louise Parker will recur.

Character details have not been revealed.

Adapted by Sarah DeLappe from Mikita Brottman‘s true-crime book Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida, Guilty Creatures is set against a backdrop of sex and and murder in the Florida Panhandle. It delves into the psyche of a torrid romance and subsequent act of murder between two young, adulterous but God-fearing lovers — believed to be played by Garner and Pullman — unraveling their complex lives and the emotional toll of living as killers for 18 years.

Tomorrow Studios (One Piece), an ITV Studios partner, produced the series and developed through the studios’ first-look deals with Garner’s Alma Margo and Gillespie’s Fortunate Jack Productions. Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Alissa Bachner executive produce through Tomorrow Studios, along with Garner through Alma Margo. Zicherman also serves as executive producer alongside DeLappe. Gillespie and Annie Marter executive produce through Fortunate Jack Productions. Brottman also serves as an executive producer.

Basso is known for starring as Peter Sutherland on The Night Agent, a breakout hit for Netflix whose first season landed on the streamer’s Most Popular English Series list. The thriller’s fourth and final season premieres in January. On the film side, Basso can be seen opposite Margaret Qualley in Prime Video’s Love Of Your Life, and he directed, wrote and starred in Iconoclast. Other recent film credits include A House of Dynamite, and he portrayed J.D. Vance in Hillbilly Elegy. Basso is repped by WME, Range Media Partners, Untitled and Yorn Levine.
