Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds forecast across much of Malaysia until this evening

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas across the country, except Sarawak, until 5pm today.

In a statement today, MetMalaysia said the adverse weather was expected to affect the whole of Perlis and Penang.

In Kedah, the affected areas are Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Yan, Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu, while in Perak, they comprise Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak.

The warning also covers Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai in Kelantan, as well as Besut, Hulu Terengganu and Dungun in Terengganu.

In Pahang, the areas involved are Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub and Bentong, while in Selangor, the warning covers Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Klang.

In Negeri Sembilan, the affected areas are Seremban, Port Dickson, Rembau and Kuala Pilah, while in Johor, they are Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat and Mersing.

In Sabah, the warning covers Sandakan (Kinabatangan, Paitan and Sandakan), Tawau (Lahad Datu and Kunak), the West Coast, Interior (Membakut, Tambunan, Keningau, Sipitang, Beaufort and Tenom) and Kudat (Kota Marudu). — Bernama
