KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting on October 7 to discuss matters related to the 16th Melaka state election.

EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said the special meeting followed the dissolution of the Melaka State Assembly last Wednesday.

“The special meeting will be chaired by EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun.

“Matters to be discussed include key dates for the 16th Melaka state election, including the writ of election, nomination day, polling day, the electoral roll to be used, and other preparations for the election,” he said in a statement today.

He said a press conference would be held immediately after the meeting.

Last Tuesday, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced the dissolution of the State Assembly effective Wednesday, after obtaining the consent of Melaka Governor Tun Mohd Ali Rustam. — Bernama
