Oyebanji hails ex-PDP gov candidate, Kolawole at 70

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated a former Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state, Chief Bisi Kolawole, on his 70th birthday.

Oyebanji described Kolawole, who had served as a lawmaker and commissioner in the state, as “an eminent and distinguished son of Ekiti who has contributed his quota to the development of the state to the admiration of all”.

The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, in Ado Ekiti on Monday, hailed Kolawole for his “passionate commitment to ideals of good governance, growth of democracy and always putting the interest of Ekiti on the front burner.”

He said Kolawole made a notable impact as a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, where he represented Efon Constituency between 2007 and 2011, and as Commissioner for Environment from 2015 to 2018.

Oyebanji said, “Hon Kolawole ran a vibrant, issue-based and commendable campaign as the candidate of the PDP in the 2022 governorship election and displayed patriotism, maturity and spirit of politics without bitterness.”

The governor, who described the septuagenarian as a true democrat, urged politicians to emulate his statesmanship, praising the politician for congratulating him after the outcome of the 2022 election and choosing to support the administration instead of challenging the outcome of the poll at the tribunal.

He added, “Hon Kolawole has remained relevant in the country’s political space with his election as the Deputy National Secretary of the PDP, which bears eloquent testimony to his worth, value and quality as a leader that can be entrusted with lofty leadership positions.”

Oyebanji prayed to God to grant Kolawole long life, sound health and fulfilment of his future aspirations, as well as more years of selfless service to Ekiti State, Nigeria and humanity in general.

He said, “On behalf of the Government and good people of Ekiti State, I celebrate our dear Hon. Kolawole and wish him good health and strength as he continues to serve our state and country with greater distinction.”
