Fegho Umunubo Foundation Launches Second Edition of Grassroots Creative Business Support Initiative for Nigerian Creative Entrepreneurs

Translate

The Fegho Umunubo Foundation has announced the second edition of its Grassroots Creative Business Support Initiative (GCBSI), a programme designed to provide funding, business training and practical support to creative entrepreneurs and businesses across Nigeria.

Building on the first edition of the initiative, the Foundation is increasing its grant support for the second edition, with successful applicants set to receive between ₦1 million and ₦1.5 million, alongside business training and practical support aimed at helping grassroots creative businesses build stronger systems, reach more customers and achieve sustainable growth.

“For creative entrepreneurs to truly thrive, access to funding alone is not enough. We need systems in place that support them, equip them with the right knowledge and resources, and serve as a guiding light as they build and grow their businesses. Through the Grassroots Creative Business Support Initiative, we want to contribute to creating that support system and give creative entrepreneurs the tools and opportunities they need to build sustainable businesses across different sectors.”

The second edition builds on the Foundation’s first GCBSI cycle, which disbursed funds in February 2026 with grants ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦1 million provided to 22 businesses operating across several areas of the creative economy, including media, film and entertainment; fashion, clothing and textiles; fashion accessories and handmade products; furniture and interior creative businesses; beauty and personal styling; arts, crafts and creative design; photography, printing and visual branding; and food, baking and creative confectionery.

With the second edition, the Foundation is expanding its financial support while continuing to focus on the broader structures creative entrepreneurs need to build resilient and sustainable businesses.

Supporting Businesses Beyond Funding

The GCBSI is open to creative entrepreneurs and businesses operating across a broad range of sectors, including media, film and entertainment; fashion, clothing and textiles; fashion accessories and handmade products; furniture and interior creative businesses; beauty and personal styling; arts, crafts and creative design; photography, printing and visual branding; food, baking and creative confectionery; videography; and home fragrance.

Beyond financial support, selected beneficiaries will receive training focused on key areas of business development, including marketing, bookkeeping, pricing and financial literacy. The programme recognises that access to capital is only one part of building a sustainable business, with entrepreneurs also requiring the knowledge, systems and tools to manage and grow their ventures effectively.

The initiative will also provide practical business support to help participating entrepreneurs strengthen their operations, improve their customer reach and create stronger foundations for long-term growth.

How to Apply

Creative entrepreneurs interested in participating are encouraged to begin by recording a one-minute video introducing their business and explaining why they need the grant.

Applicants should then share their video on Instagram using the hashtag #GCBSI and visit @feghox or @thefeghoumunubofoundation on Instagram to access the application form through the link in bio.

Applications opened on 1 October 2026 and close on 1 November 2026.

The Fegho Umunubo Foundation encourages eligible creative entrepreneurs across Nigeria to take advantage of the initiative and present their businesses, ideas and ambitions for consideration.

The second edition of the Grassroots Creative Business Support Initiative builds on the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting creative enterprise at the grassroots level and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to access the resources, knowledge and support needed to build stronger and more sustainable businesses.
