Conor McGregor has taken aim at Canelo Alvarez's commercial drawing power. The Irishman claimed that, in pay-per-view sales, attendance, and gate revenue, he can outperform the Mexican boxing star. Calling his next UFC appearance his “final fight”, the 38-year-old former two-division champion promised to promote it aggressively and break his own commercial records. McGregor made the remarks on X on Sunday, hours after Alvarez reclaimed the WBC super middleweight title with a unanimous-decision win over Christian Mbilli. The Irishman questioned the fight's viewership, attendance and gate figures. No official numbers for the Riyadh card had been released at the time.
How many views did the canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate ? Man I outdo ALL of these people in sales. Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease. Maybe even combined. I don't even be trying. I was on the same time as the World Cup semi final and still done all them numbers in that last bullshit that I've to sit with for another few months before I return. I'm going to actually try to sell the fight for my next one. My final fight. See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records.

Conor McGregor plots a blockbuster UFC farewell
Conor McGregor is recovering from ACL surgery after a knee injury and ended his July return against Max Holloway after just 69 seconds. He expects to remain sidelined for a few more months. It was reported that he hopes to return in 2027 for the final bout of his UFC contract.
Unwilling to concede ground to Alvarez, one of boxing's most established attractions, McGregor wrote, "How many views did the Canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate? Man, I outdo ALL of these people in sales. Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease.”
He added that he could surpass them “maybe even combined”, pointing to the strong numbers he says he produced despite his last fight airing opposite a World Cup semi-final.
Rather than relying solely on his existing profile, the notorious said he intends to “actually try to sell” the fight. “My final fight. See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records,” he added.
Canelo Alvarez reclaims WBC gold with Riyadh victory over Mbilli
Canelo Alvarez defeated Christian Mbilli by unanimous decision in Riyadh on October 31, reclaiming the WBC super middleweight title. Many sports outlets had listed the fight as the headline fight of the month.
Returning after more than a year away from the ring, the Mexican star now hopes to rematch Terence Crawford. Crawford's retirement makes that fight doubtful.
McGregor's criticism, however, came without published attendance, gate, or viewership figures for the Riyadh event.
No opponent, date, or venue has been confirmed for McGregor's return, but his latest comments leave little doubt that the farewell bout is being positioned as much a commercial statement as a sporting comeback.
