India won the Women’s Asia Cup title for the eighth time after defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
It was a confidence boosting achievement for Harmanpreet Kaur and Co, following their disappointing group-stage exit at the Women’s T20 World Cup earlier in the year.
The Women in Blue will now head to the Asian Games 2026 for their next assignment, in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
India is the defending champion, having won the gold medal after defeating Sri Lanka in the final in a low-scoring contest in Guangzhou in 2023.
India will begin its campaign against host Japan in the quarterfinal stage on September 18.
