GPCL tackles liquidity crisis; pays 13th-month salary and increases basic salaries by 40%

The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) says it has overcome significant liquidity challenges that previously threatened its operations, enabling management to pay a 13th-month salary and increase workers' basic salaries by 40 per cent in 2025.

Managing Director Nana Kwasi Boatey disclosed that the company was facing severe financial difficulties when the current management assumed office in February 2025, with insufficient funds to support its operations and a history of relying on bank overdrafts to pay employees' salaries.

He said management responded with a series of financial and operational reforms, including the introduction of a 24-hour production system, expenditure controls, improved revenue collection and measures to eliminate financial leakages.

The interventions, he explained, significantly improved the company's liquidity and strengthened its ability to meet financial obligations without resorting to additional borrowing.

Presenting the company's performance at the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House on Monday, November 2, Mr Boatey said the improvements had also enabled management to address outstanding legacy debts and expand investment in production capacity.

"As of December 2025, the implementation of these interventions led to a significant recovery from our liquidity crisis," he said.

He added that management was committed to sustaining the financial gains while improving staff welfare and operational efficiency.
