Exclusive: Emmerdale star speaks out on secret Thea and Kim bond after shock twist

Emmerdale star Chelsea Edge has spoken out on the bond between her character Thea Ramsden and her estranged mum Kim Tate, following last night's shock Halloween twist.

In Tuesday's episode, Kim stabbed her daughter after believing that Thea was baby Tate's kidnapper. However, Kim then realised that Thea wasn't involved in the kidnap plot after all, and the true culprit was revealed to be the baby's father Joe Tate.

The episode ended with Thea unconscious, her life hanging in the balance. But will Kim get Thea medical help, despite the legal consequences it could bring for her?

Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap, Chelsea discussed how Thea and Kim's relationship has played out up until this point, as Kim still doesn't know that Thea is her daughter.

"The moment that we went into the interview scenes together, we were like, 'Oh, it’s mother and daughter facing off, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree!'" explains Chelsea.

"Thea has a lot of fire in her bones, and once she sets her mind to something, she’s willing to do whatever it takes, and Kim is exactly like that. Kim is very loyal to her own and Thea has that as well."

Thea was revealed as Kim's daughter in a special flashback to Kim's past, which explained that she became pregnant and gave birth during her time away from the village, before giving Thea up.

Despite resenting her biological mum her whole life, Chelsea explains that it isn't so black and white for Thea anymore, ever since meeting Kim in person.

"I think having now met her, she’s quite conflicted because it’s hard to ignore the fact that Kim is a human being, and her entire life she’s painted Kim as this villain in her narrative," Chelsea muses. "Coming face to face with the person, that unravels a little bit for her. But still, she’s harboured this grudge for 27 years."
