Faulty wiring 'loud sound' in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat not 'school shooting,' gov says

A loud sound reported at Isulan National High School in Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday was not caused by a shooting but was likely due to faulty electrical wiring, Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu said.

In a statement, Mangudadatu cited a report from the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police Office (SKPPO) and said that there was no shooting incident at the school, clarifying earlier reports.

“The reported loud sound was not caused by a firearm and was likely due to faulty electrical wiring. No ammunition was found in the area during the investigation,” he said.

“The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is conducting its assessment regarding the possible electrical wiring issue,” he added..

He said appropriate safety protocols were immediately implemented, while the Municipal Government of Isulan, in coordination with peace and security authorities, secured the area as the assessment continued.

Mangudadatu urged parents and the public to remain calm and rely only on official and verified information from authorities.

“The safety and well-being of our students and teachers remain our utmost concern,” he said. —VAL, GMA News
