The 20th edition of the Asian Games were flagged off in Aichi-Nagoya on Saturday at the Paloma Mizuho Stadium.
However, the taekwondo events will only commence on October 1, where India will have a three-member squad featuring in four disciplines.
The focus of attention will be Kashish Malik, who will be taking part in the women’s -57kg event. She had recently clinched a bronze medal at the Asian Taekwondo Championships and could secure India’s first taekwondo medal at the Asian Games since 2002.
Kashish will also be taking part in the virtual taekwondo event, which is making its debut at the Asian Games.
