SA Police are investigating an incident in the Barossa Valley hinterland after a 30-year-old man sustained multiple stab wounds yesterday evening.

Police said emergency crews were called to a private property on Pine Creek Road at Bethel.

The victim, who is from Kapunda, was flown to hospital in a critical condition.

"His condition is now considered stable," police said in a statement.

"A 22-year-old Nuriootpa man was arrested at the scene by police without incident."

Police said the 22-year-old was charged with attempted murder and refused police bail.

"Police wish to reassure the local community that this was not a random incident and the men involved are known to each other," police said.

The man is expected to appear in court on Monday.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police to contact Crime Stoppers.
